The process

Requirement in. One quotation out.

Four steps, and a person at every one of them. Nothing here is an automated queue.

  1. 01

    We read your requirement

A person, not a rule. If the specification is ambiguous in a way that would produce offers you cannot compare, we come back to you before approaching anybody.

  2. 02

    We approach suppliers

Assessed suppliers in the right category and region get the same sanitised specification and the same response deadline. Your identity is not part of it.

  3. 03

    We compare the offers

Units normalised, currency converted at a recorded rate, freight and duty treated explicitly, and anything unknown flagged rather than quietly entered as zero.

  4. 04

    You get one quotation

In your currency, with the delivery term, the validity date, what the price includes, and what acceptance commits you to.

What we will not do

  • Pass your name to a supplier

An enquiry goes out as a specification. If you want to be named — sometimes it helps — you tell us so.

  • Zero out a cost we do not know

An unknown freight cost entered as nothing makes one offer look best and the comparison worthless. Unknowns are marked as unknown.

  • Promise a date we have not been given

Lead times on a quotation come from the supplier who will have to meet them, and we say which ones are indicative.

  • Quote a category we are not in yet

Precious metals is a direction we are building toward, and the site says so rather than taking the enquiry.

How we make our money

We sit between a buyer and several suppliers, and our margin is in the quotation we issue — not in a fee you pay on top and not in a commission taken quietly from the supplier side. If you want the basis explained before you commit to anything, ask; it is a reasonable question and the answer is the same every time.
